That\u2019s why I\u2019ll just use your<br \/>\nInitial. Do you know that in one treasured story, a<br \/>\nJewish ancestor, horseback in the woods at Yom<br \/>\nKippur, and stranded without a prayer book,<br \/>\nLooked into the darkness and realized he had<br \/>\nMerely to name the alphabet to ask forgiveness\u2014<br \/>\nNo congregation of figures needed, he could speak<br \/>\nOne letter at a time because all of creation<br \/>\nProceeded from those. He fed his horse, and then<br \/>\nQuietly, because it was from his heart, he<br \/>\nRecited them slowly, from aleph to tav. Within those<br \/>\nSounds, all others were born, all manner of<br \/>\nTrials, actions, emotions, everything needed to<br \/>\nUnderstand who he was, had been, how flaws<br \/>\nVenerate the human being, how aspirations return<br \/>\nWithout spite. Now for you, may your wife\u2019s<br \/>\nX-ray return with good news, may we raise our<br \/>\nZarfs to both your names in the Great Book of Life.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A Poem for S.
